Cancer awareness

1 in 2 people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime. 4 in 10 (42%) of cancer cases in the UK each year are linked to lifestyle factors with smoking being the largest single preventable cause of cancer each year. Cancer Research UK have produced a number of cancer statistics on their website.

There are a number of awareness campaigns to help people understand the signs and symptoms of cancer so you can get medical advice as soon as possible. More information on a range of cancers, campaigns and support groups can be found in this section of the website. 

Be Clear On Cancer

Public Health England is running a national 'Be Clear on Cancer' campaign from 14 July to 16 October 2016. 

This campaign focuses on the symptoms of a persistent cough and inappropriate breathlessness. More information on the symptoms of cancer can be found on the Be Clear on Cancer website.
