Stay healthy for the ones you love

As you get older, there is a higher risk of developing a condition such as high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes. It is important that everyone in Lancashire between the ages of 40 and 74 has a free NHS health check to keep them ticking over.

If you do not want to do it for yourself then do it for the ones you love – children, grandchildren, partners and elderly parents may depend on you and it is important to keep yourself keep fit and healthy for them.

The check will take less than 20 minutes and will look at your:

  • Lifestyle
  • Family medical history
  • Cholesterol levels
  • Blood pressure.

Around 80% of GP practices in Lancashire are now offering health checks and have a rolling programme to write out to patients inviting them to an appointment.  If you are invited, do take the time to go, as spotting problems early will be beneficial for your future health.  It is important to get checked every five years to ensure nothing has changed.

Soon you will be able to get a health check at places other than your GP, including at your local pharmacy or even your place of work.
